This project was developed in the seaside town of Felixstowe. Situated less than a couple of hours from London, Felixstowe lies on the coast of Suffolk, between the estuaries of the River Orwell and the River Stour and it hosts the largest and most important commercial port in Britain.
The work explores the visual relationship between the city and its port. It is an attempt to document how the port is reflected in the city.
It is both about the generic nature of large ports and one specific town – Felixstowe.
My interest in starting this project was sparked by two main sentiments: the fascination I experience when in large industrial areas contrasted by the role of the city – a city of modern industrial Britain – which divides itself between being a vital cog in the nation's industrial economy and being a holiday area for families as well as a nice and quiet place for older people to retire.
